KSB Annual Sports Event Years: 2025
Join the Community!
Each year, KSB hosts a special sports event for KSB Day, bringing together Karen, Karenni, Chin, Burmese, and other communities to celebrate unity through sports. The event features soccer, takraw, and men’s and women’s volleyball — all activities that play an important role in our community. We welcome athletes and families from across New York and nearby states like Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Connecticut, and Indiana. Our hope is to grow KSB Day into a national gathering where Karen people and other ethnic communities from across the country can come together with pride and connection.
f you are interested in sponsoring this meaningful event in any way, we warmly encourage you to reach out. Your support helps us build a stronger, more connected community.

Karen Traditional Wrist-tying Ceremony
"Before Buddhism or Christianity was introduced to the Karen people, our ancient ancestors and great grandmothers and grandfathers lived in fear of different spirits. Therefore, our parents and grandparents used white thread, which they tied on the wrists of children after calling back their spirits. It meant that the person and one's spirit would stay together and could live free from fear."
